TORONTO, ONTARIO — February 1, 2026 — Canada Tech Council today announced a strategic partnership with Canadian AI™ focused on research and development across emerging technology.
The collaboration establishes a framework for the two organizations to examine emerging technology in practical institutional and industry contexts. The work is intended to connect research questions with the technical, governance, infrastructure and adoption considerations organizations face as new systems move from experimentation into operating environments.
Research and development focus
The partnership will support a shared research and development agenda across areas where technology capability, organizational readiness and responsible deployment increasingly intersect. Initial areas of focus may include:
- artificial intelligence and agentic systems;
- advanced computing, cloud and digital infrastructure;
- cybersecurity, identity and trusted systems;
- automation, robotics and applied software systems;
- AI governance, responsible technology and institutional controls;
- enterprise adoption, operating models and technology capability.
From research to applied capability
The collaboration is designed to create a stronger connection between emerging-technology research and the conditions required for dependable adoption. Research activity may include technical analysis, applied experimentation, institutional briefs, prototype exploration, knowledge exchange and other development work aligned with the organizations’ respective mandates.
Canada Tech Council will contribute an ecosystem and institutional perspective, with attention to industry collaboration, technology leadership, adoption conditions and the broader Canadian technology environment. Canadian AI™ will contribute artificial-intelligence and technology-development expertise across enterprise systems, emerging AI capabilities and applied research.
Areas of collaboration
Planned collaboration can include the development of research priorities, technical and policy-oriented briefs, industry discussions, experimental technology work and public-facing knowledge intended to help organizations understand material technology developments. Specific initiatives will be announced separately as they are defined and confirmed.
The organizations will retain their independent identities and governance. The partnership does not by itself imply endorsement of any third party, product, platform or public institution.
